Meet Dani
Hello! My name is Dani Wickingson. I am currently finishing my Associate's Degree in General Education at Salt Lake Community College and will soon be switching my major to physics to pursue a profession in astronomy.
As a woman going into a male-dominated career field, I feel that it is important to understand any challenges that I might face in my scientific endeavors. Additionally, I hope to shed light on all forms of gender inequality - from the gender pay gap to the sex trafficking network. Sheryl WuDunn, one of the creators of the Half the Sky Movement, states that gender inequality is the "central challenge of this century" (WuDunn). As such, I feel it is necessary to bring awareness to the struggles of many women around the globe in hopes that others might get involved. Learn more about Dani here. Worn benches lined the rickety vehicle where bits of insulation protruded through the holes that littered the seats. Thin bars of cheap metal were bolted over the windows, as if the flimsy barriers might provide protection in the case of an accident. Dirt caked the floor and found its way into the secluded corners of the vehicle. The bus looked as if it should be rotting away in a junkyard, but it somehow still brought girls to and from their school in the Swat District of Pakistan. These girls had finished another day...
